about state of gray…

Hi, I’m Gray!
State of Gray is aimed at women of a certain age, who are going through transitions. Maybe you feel stuck between two lives or two stages. One that you’ve left and one you have now. You might feel alone, no longer heard, understood or appreciated. It’s very isolating. Are you having trouble finding your purpose? Maybe things aren’t working out as you had planned or hoped, and you’re working with Plan B. I hope to be relatable to you and your everyday life.
This is not a grief blog, but we will discuss that, because by this point in our lives, most of us have suffered some kind of loss. In 2011 and 2012 I suffered devastating losses. After 3 or 4 years of really not wanting to be here, I read a particularly great book, and I realized I can’t ever fix this, but I wanted to be heard. I think I was meant to write. I’ll tell my story and we’ll see how it relates to yours, as I think it’s a dialogue worth having.
I hope that what I share on this blog resonates with you and encourages and educates you. I’m about reinvention, reemergence, reevaluation, repurposing, relevance, refining and sometimes, reentry. (I’m all about the “re” words.) We are at the stage of the game where we ask ourselves, “what now?” It’s time to do all the things you never thought you would do, or always wanted to do.
On a lighter note, I want to find and share items, ideas and information for women over 50, so that we can live our best lives. I hope to translate trends and ideas into what works for us. What is our version of style? This isn’t a fashion blog, but it is about what’s great for us. We all want to remain relevant, no matter our age. I believe that as we age, we become more and more who we were always meant to be. We return to our true selves.
I originally envisioned this blog to be about things that I’m interested in - like style, flowers, beauty, humor, travel, decorating, shopping (once a buyer, always a buyer), books, etc etc…. But now it will be more. It has to be. Because I am more. Let’s have a discussion of what it’s like to age well. It’s the State of Gray. It’s the state of me, the state of us. It’s a most unexpected shade of gray!
