Privacy and Information

We respect your privacy and are committed to protecting it. We may collect personal information such as your name and email address. This is received from you by your voluntary submission from subscriptions, from comments, or from the contact form. When you leave a comment, the website (SOG) also picks up your IP address to help with spam detection. If you want to add a gravatar to your comment, SOG will pick that up as well and once your comment has been approved, it will display next to your comment. It will also be detected the next time you sign in to leave a comment.

Articles on SOG may have embedded content or images. Embedded content from other sites, may behave the same way as if you visited that site. These sites may collect data from you, use cookies, or monitor your interaction with that content, if you have an account and are logged into that website. If you link any of your social accounts (Facebook, Instagram, Google, etc.) to your user profile, we will receive the name, email address and profile picture associated with that account.

We automatically collect certain information about you and the device with which you are logged into SOG. When you log into SOG, we log your IP address, operating system, browser type, referring website, pages viewed and links clicked.

We only share information with third party sites, if you have authorized us to do so. We also use some third parties to provide some services for the SOG. We use Google Analytics to track website usage - it will pick up your IP address but nothing else. At this time, we are not using a third party email provider, our emails are delivered through an in house program, from Squarespace.

If you leave a comment on the site, certain information may be publicly visible. Your email address will never be available publicly.

Cookies

We do use cookies on SOG to improve your browsing experience. Some cookies are functional and are necessary to allow you navigate and use features on SOG. Other cookies are used for analytics and performance of SOG, so that we can understand how you interact with SOG. Cookies cannot identify you. As a rule, they make your browsing experience better, but you can disable them on your browser at any time.

The information these cookies provide may be used to operate SOG, send you newsletters for which you’ve signed up, send you blog posts, special offers or announcements, administrative emails, confirmations, updates or alerts. They are also used to respond to your comments, support your inquiries, track any advertising on SOG, and protect and deter against illegal activity.

From time to time we may use third parties such as Instagram or Facebook, to market the website. These companies may use cookies based on someone’s past visits to the site, for advertising purposes.

We will not share or sell your personal information to unaffiliated entities. Period.

Affiliate Programs

SOG engages in affiliate marketing. This is done by embedding links into SOG. If you link to an affiliate partnership, a cookie is placed on your browser to track any sales, for purposes of commissions. SOG is a partner in a few of these programs. These include Amazon, ShopStyle Collective and Share A Sale. SOG may receive a small commission if you purchase anything using these links. These commissions cost you nothing, and will never influence the content, topics or posts made on the blog.

Blog Post Emails | special offers

On SOG, you may subscribe to the blog, whereby you will receive blog posts by email. Emails sent may contain tracking pixels. The pixel is embedded and allows analysis of the success of marketing campaigns. Because of these tracking pixels, we may see if and when you open an email and which links within the email you click. Also, this allows SOG to adapt the content of future newsletters/emails/offers to the interests of the user. This information is never passed on to third parties.

Comments

SOG reserves the right to remove comments on the blog that are self-promoting, rude, personal attacks, or not contributing to the topic at hand.

This blog may accept forms of sponsorship or paid advertising from time to time. Compensation received will never influence the content, topics or posts made on the blog. Any paid advertisements or sponsorships will be identified as such.

Affiliate links may be used in our posts. We earn a small commission when you purchase through these links, but you pay nothing extra. Even when the blog may receive compensation, we always give our honest opinion, findings or experience on these topics or products. The views and opinions on SOG are our own, and our goal is never to have a conflict of interest on the blog.
